Scuba Instruction

How Are We Different?

We offer a truly personalized scuba experience. Working with no more than six students at a time, we eliminate any possible anxiety that can come from a large group setting. We feel that all students deserve "private" lessons and should not have to pay extra for such personalized attention. We love diving and we love to teach diving. It is a great feeling to pass on to our students our enthusiasm for the sport!

View from underwater at Lake Rawlings, VAWe conduct most of our training locally at Lake Rawlings, a flooded quarry in Virginia, only three hours south of DC.  This lake is known for its excellent visibility (up to 40 feet!), warm water temperatures, and fun underwater sights (fish, buses, plane, etc.), all of which contribute to an enjoyable diving experience.  We can also travel to other locations if you have a destination in mind.

We are willing to work around any schedule.  We offer anything from the traditional extended course with multiple classroom and pool sessions to the more challenging condensed two day course.  Scuba diving can fit into even the busiest schedule and provides countless memories and adventures few get to experience.

Open Water Diver

Most beginner scuba courses are comprised of a classroom portion with basic assignments and quizzes, a confined water (generally a pool) portion where the physical skills are learned, and a checkout portion in open water which acts as the “final exam” where, upon successful completion, a certification is awarded.  We teach through PADI (Professional Association of Diving Instructors), an international scuba training organization with more than forty years’ experience, over 133,500 PADI Professionals and more than 6,000 dive shops and resorts worldwide.  The beginning course is called Open Water Diver and certifies you to dive almost anywhere in the world to the maximum depths of recreational diving.  The certification lasts a lifetime and never needs to be renewed with fees or membership letters.

Our class starts at $425, depending on time and facilities used.  Your personalized course fee includes EVERYTHING you will need to complete the course: gear, books, pool time, instruction, checkout costs, etc.  We don’t charge you separately for the final checkout and we don’t require you to buy gear up front.  We want you to have the opportunity to try out different types of equipment and get comfortable with it before you choose to buy your own.
